After the incident, Steve picked up his woodburning kit and has not stopped creating amazing works ever since. The results of this are on view at Sola Cafe in April and May in the mezzanine and main cafe entry areas. Never have you seen the level of detail Steve has been able to create in his woodburning artworks.

WONDERLAND LIGHT at Sola

Yellowstone Watercolors by Marsha Karle to benefit the Greater Yellowstone Coalition

Sola Café is featuring Montana artist Marsha Karle’s watercolor paintings during the months of April and May 2013. The show features more than 50 of Karle’s original paintings and drawings of Yellowstone wildlife, wildflowers, landscapes, and geyser basins. Thirty percent of the proceeds from the show will be donated to the Greater Yellowstone Coalition in honor of their 30 years serving the communities of the Yellowstone region.

Sola Cafe’s owner-manager Tiffany Lach regularly hosts shows of the work of local artists and donates 20 percent commission from the sale of the art to the local “good cause” of the artist’s choice. Karle selected the Greater Yellowstone Coalition for her good cause, and was pleased to add an additional 10 percent of all sales proceeds to the donation.

Marsha Karle first worked for the National Park Service in Yellowstone National Park 30 years ago, the same year that the Greater Yellowstone Coalition was created. She later spent 11 years as Yellowstone’s Chief of Public Affairs retiring in 2004. Karle said, “Over the years I watched the Coalition take on more and more complex issues and effectively engage the entire regional community in efforts to honor and preserve the way of life we are all so grateful for here. It was an easy decision to name the GYC as my ‘good cause’ for this show.”

Karle’s work has been shown widely in the region, and for the past several years her fine-arts cards and prints have been sold in the National Park Service visitor center in Yellowstone National Park and other local outlets. Her work has been accepted in such prestigious national competitions as Birds in Art and Paint the Parks.

A warm and hearty thanks to all of the wonderful folks who have helped Sola

recover from the September 14th “little” fire that made such a destructively BIG

mess! To Cathy and Christina who saved the building when they saw the smoke

and called 911 who then called in the Bozeman, Sourdough, and Mount Ellis Fire

Departments who so carefully doused the flames, taking great care to preserve

the contents the best they could. To the fine Bozeman Police Department as well

as the Gallatin County Sheriff. To Bill and his wonderful team at Buffalo

Restoration who tore out all the smoke and water damaged walls, ceilings, and

floors as well as removing smoke from the entirety of Sola’s contents. To Kodiak

Restoration for helping our neighbor who also suffered greatly. To Antoinette, for

being a trooper in the overwhelming realization that her business was going to

be closed through the holidays and for being a great friend (not the opposite) in

the process. To Phil and his team at Rocky Mountain Electric for completely

rewiring the majority of Sola and to Mike Kraft Electric, our electrical first

responder. To Andy at Alpenglow Homes and his many talented go-to

contractors, including but not limited to: Jason, John, John, Mike, and Tina. To

Stephen Johnson and all his fabulous painting crew for making the colors come

back to life. To Mike Long for his creative cabinetry and to Lisa Long for sharing

him with us during the holidays. To Gallatin Valley Food Bank for keeping our

food from going to waste, and to Jim at Mountain Air for getting our heating and

air ducts replaced and repaired, To Witty at Western Plumbing who kept finding

more pipes to replace and to move. To Kevin and his team at Custom II metal

works and to David and Tony at Tinworks and to Jerry at Ironworks–so much

metal! To Scott at J&V Restaurant Supplies for always checking in on us and to

Tom at Fox Alarm for getting us a system that would not melt in a fire, To Greg

and Heath at Convergence Media for rewiring our computers and internet. To

Zane at Integra for getting our phone lines moved, and to our friends at Optimum

Wireless who had us ready to open on day one! To Lisa, Wayne and crew at

Tom’s Floors who came up with a fabulous alternative to our ruined floors. To

Chad at Ghost Town Coffee Roasters for refurbishing our machines and aiding

us in so many ways. To Randy and Nancy at Quality Foods for their generous

logistical help. To Shawn at Gallatin Valley Laundry for cleaning the smoke smell

out of all of our uniforms and to Rich at Bozeman Safe and Lock for making sure

we could get into our building so we could keep working! To artists: Anna,

Comfort, Steve, Adair, Stacey, and Cheyenne for creative contributions all along

the way. To the groups who graciously welcomed the Sola employee volunteers:

Eagle Mount, The Food Bank, Gallatin Valley Land Trust, Heart of the Valley

Animal Shelter, Befrienders, and more… To our entire Sola leadership team and

staff for doing myriad jobs that really weren’t nearly as fun as making food and

drink for fabulous customers every day. To Alan and Nancy and Carl and Sally

and many other treat bearing well wishers! And, of course, THANK YOU to all of

our wonderful friends, family, neighbors, and loyal customers whom we have missed so
