Gallatin Mental Health Center is July Ten Cents recipientEvery time you use a personal mug in lieu of a paper cup at Sola, we will donate ten cents to charity. This month’s charity is Gallatin Mental Health Center. To date: Sola has donated over $7000 to local charities with this program. Gallatin Mental Health Center’s Mission: To assist individuals and communities with meeting the challenges surrounding mental illness, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders with grace, dignity and hope. For the past eight years, GMHC has been providing comprehensive behavioral health care to Gallatin County that emphasizes education, treatment, advocacy and recovery. GMHC is comprised of 55 staff members that provide extensive services including crisis response team, emergency detention, crisis stabilization, medication management, outpatient therapy, psychological testing, peer support, drop-in-center, community-based psychiatric rehabilitation, case management, homeless outreach and supported housing. GMHC serves adults struggling with mental illness, substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders. Although GMHC directs care to Gallatin County residents, it also provides assistance to transitioning non-residents, homeless and vagrant populations. GMHC services contribute to each client’s recovery from the limitations of their disabling condition and with a focus on developing skills that lead toward increased independence and improved quality of life. GMHC operates under Western Montana Mental Health Centers, a not-for-profit, tax exempt, public purpose corporation (501)(c)(3) under state and federal designation. Services are offered by the center regardless of age, race, sex, color, religion, marital status, sexual orientation or disability. GMHC provided over $900,000 in charity care to Gallatin County last year and hopes to continue to provide low- and no-cost services despite substantial state funding cuts to be imposed on February 1, 2011. These funding cuts may jeopardize currently offered services and prevent further growth if GMHC is unable to secure alternative funding (through fundraising events, grants, increased community awareness/involvement, direct donations and programs such as this).
