Stevi Lynn Artist Statement:

Originally from Colorado, Stevi Lynn began her artistic career in southern England where she lived during her childhood and ultimately attended Falmouth University of Arts. Having created her first public exhibit by the age of fifteen, Stevi Lynn’s passion for photography, film media and the natural world around her has driven this artist to share her views of life, people and color using her compelling, story telling images. Not only are Stevi Lynn’s images expressed in photography but also incorporated into non-conventional materials, such as linen, wood and antique artifacts.
Having created a technique using her photographic images, integrated with found textures and materials, the viewers find themselves in a state of calm and intrigue simultaneously. Stevi Lynn transposes the ordinary into the sublime www.stevilynn.com

Tom Chvilicek Artist Statement:

Art has been a constant in my life, at times a silent partner guiding me through the trials and tribulations familiar to us all.  Art, as well, has been my source of excited expression.  No matter what the time or place, art has stood beside me as a loyal friend.  Each creation is not my own, but a gift from God.

I began sketching in pencil and ink and fell in love with the linear boldness.  Out of this developed my graphic style.  I have always been mesmerized by linear art and remember my first experiences seeing it in Catholic art.  During catechism classes I would examine each detail of the drawings in my study books completely ignoring what was going on in the class.  From this I began to doodle on whatever I could find.  It was years later that I was exposed to Picasso, which further fueled my love of the bold black lines.  My style was born, though unknown to me.

My work is a representational view of my encounters.  The paint allows me to convey what I see around me onto a canvas for others.  One of the prevailing themes in my work is humor.  The ability to laugh at ourselves, and our circumstances is a healing experience as well as providing a positive example to those around us.

My hope is that my work provides the viewer with a reprieve, a moment to escape the troubles of the day.  www.tomchvilicek.com

Lenore Maunz Artist Statement:

I believe that beauty, in every situation, lies in the details.  My art emphasizes this, which combines well with my incessant need for order and structure.  I am fascinated by the details of paint and different acquired objects.  In my art, even simple corners or details can be fascinating because of their reactions to their surroundings.  The placement of shapes or forms and how they interact with everything around them never ceases to amaze me, whether intentional or not.

In my mind, medium is the most important thing and has the most limitless possibilities.  My work is often somewhat simple in nature because I am (maybe overly) fascinated with the potential of whatever medium I am using because it has such power to tell a story all by itself.  My work is a way for me to be a storyteller as well as a listener.  One of the most exciting things for me is to see where the media takes me.  It is a journey that I am creating.  I am continually surprised by my art.  I don’t usually have a plan for a piece, and I don’t need one.  I want to share my process with the viewers and allow for this process to change and expand as I work on it.

My work is my reaction to various ordering structures that have been imposed on us by societal “norms” such as language, perspective, and spatial borders and limitations.  The process of creating the spaces in my work allows me to try and navigate through and push these ordering structures to their limits as a manner of having my voice and opinion heard. In everyday life I often have a hard time voicing my opinion, but my art is my place to create my own beliefs and to respond to the issues I take with our society.
