Sarah Angst
Sarah Angst decided on printmaking as her medium of choice back in 2003. Since then she has created well over one hundred different designs and has sold lots of original block prints. Her linocuts begin with a drawing, which she carves into a piece of linoleum. She then rolls her carved block with ink, and using even pressure transfers her design onto paper. Once the ink has dried, Angst brings her images to life by hand painting each print with water colors adding depth and originality. In 2007 Angst moved to Bozeman and decided to go at her art full time. Since then she has spent the past three years traveling to art fairs across the country and making her living as an artist. After years of traveling Angst is ready for a change. Her hope is to get off the road, sell her work in more galleries, and devote more time to her next goal of getting a picture book published. “Until Now” is an exhibit showing the body of work Angst has created from the beginning of her printmaking career until now, 7 years later, when she is starting on a new path. Sarah Angst and Sola Café are donating 20% of any sales of her original work to The Emerson Center for Arts & Culture. Angst has been involved with The Emerson ever since she moved to Bozeman. She sells her work at the Artists’ Gallery in the building, and can often be found there. “The Emerson is a great asset to our city, we are really lucky to have such a place here in Bozeman. I feel like it’s the heart of our community, and it can use all of our help to keep that heart beating,“ says Angst of The Emerson. Offering exceptional art for people of all ages, and contributing an exquisite event space for so many cultural events The Emerson Center for Arts & Culture is definitely worthy of our support. Sarah Angst’s work will be on display in Sola’s Café Gallery February 2 – March 31, 2010. Please join us for an opening reception February 2nd from 4:30-6:00pm.
